I~S CONl~ PROVINCE OF BRITISH COLUMBIA BRITISH COLUMBIA UTILITIES COMMISSION IN THE MA TTER OF the Utilities Commission Act, S.B.C. 1980, c. 60, as amended and IN THE MATTER OF an Application by West Kootenay Power and Light Company, Limited BEFORE: M. Taylor, Chairman; D.B. Kilpatrick, Commissioner; and N. Martin, Commissioner ORDER WHEREAS West Kootenay Limited ("WKPL") applied November 29, 1985 for rate relief of approximately 6.0% to become effective January 1, 1986; and WHEREAS the Commission authorizing WKPL to increase by approximately 6.0% its rates for electric service effective on January 1, 1986, with the interim increase subject to refund with interest; and WHEREAS the Commission has given further consideration to the Application and has now determined an appropriate date for the public hearing thereof. NOW THEREFORE the Commission hereby orders West Kootenay Power and Light Company, Limited as follows: 1. A public hearing of the Application by WKPL will commence at 9:30 a.m. local time, Tuesday, December 2, 1986 and continuing through Friday, December 5, 1986 at the Uplander Hotel, 1919 Columbia A venue, Rossland, B.C. The hearing will continue at the Commission Hearing Room, 4th Floor, 800 Smithe Street, Vancouver, B.C. commencing Tuesday, December 9, 1986. WKPL will arrange for publication not later than Friday, September 12, 1986 of a Notice of Public Hearing, as per attached copy, in one issue each of the Vancouver Sun, the Vancouver Province publications as may provide adequate coverage for service area of the utility. 3. WKPL will file with the Commission not later than Friday, October 24, 1986 any additional prepared testimony and supplemental material upon which it proposes to rely. 4. Interested persons intending to be present and participate in the public hearing should give notice of intention to do so to the Com mission Secretary, and to the Applicant, to be received not later than Monday, November la, 1986. Such notice should state the nature of your interest in the proceeding. 5. Interested persons intending to file a written submission should provide one copy to the Commission Secretary, and one copy to the Applicant, to be received not later than Monday, November 10,1986. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING THE APPLICATION West Kootenay Power and Light Company, Limited ("WKPL") applied November 29, 1985 for rate relief of approximately 6.0% to become effective January 1, 1986. The Commission by Order No. G-93-85 authorized the requested increase subject to refund with appropriate interest if not verified at a public hearing. THE PUBLIC HEARING The Commission has set down the Application for public hearing commencing at 9:30 a.m., local time Tuesday, December 2, 1986 and continuing through Friday, December 5, 1986 at the Uplander Hotel, 1919 Columbia Avenue, Rossland, B.C. The hearing will continue at the Commission Hearing Room, 4th Floor, 800 Smithe Street, Vancouver, B.C. commencing Tuesday, December 9, 1986. PUBLIC INSPECTION OF THE APPLICATION The Application and supporting material are available for inspection at the Head Office of West Kootenay Power and Light Company, Limited, Waneta Plaza, 8100 Rock Island Highway, Box 130, Trail, B.C., VIR 4L4; and at its offices located at Castlegar, Crawford Bay, Creston, Grand Forks, Greenwood, Kaslo, Kelowna, Keremeos, Oliver, Penticton, Salmo, South Slocan and Trail, B.C. A copy of the Application and supporting material is also available for inspection at the office of the British Columbia Utilities Commission, 4th Floor, 800 Smithe Street, Vancouver, B.C. INTERVENTIONS Any person intending to attend the hearing to give evidence or cross-examine witnesses should provide written notice, to be received not later than Monday, November 10, 1986, to the Commission Secretary, and to the Applicant. The notice should include a brief statement of the nature of their interest in the proceedings. SUBMISSIONS BY INTERESTED PERSONS Any person intending to file a written submission must do so, to be received not later than Monday, November 10, 1986, one copy of the submission to the Commission Secretary, and to the Applicant.
