Swanson, Q.C., ) Commissioner ) o R D E R WHEREAS The Corporation of the City of Nelson ("the City") applied December 14, 1989 for Commission approval of rates contained in The Nelson Electrical Utility Regulatory Amendment By-Law No. 2368, 1990 ("the By-Law") applicable to electric service rendered by the City in its service area; and WHEREAS the amendments specified in the By-Law are to permit the city to increase all customer rates by 5.9 percent effective January 1, 1990 on an inter im basis; and WHEREAS the By-Law maintains the rate differential approved by Commission Decision and Order No. G-76-83 dated October 24, 1983; and WHEREAS the Commission has reviewed the Application and supporting material and finds that the proposed interim increase in electric service rates is necessary and in the public interest. NOW THEREFORE the Commission hereby orders the City as follows: 1. The Commission accepts for filing effecti ve January 1, 1990 The Nelson Electrical Utility Regulatory Amendment By-Law No. 2368, 1990 incorporating a general rate increase of 5.9% over existing rates, on an interim basis, with the interim increase subject to refund with interest calculated at the average prime rate of the bank with which the City conducts its business and subject to confirmation of the West Kootenay Power Ltd. general inter im rate increase effecti ve January 1, 1990. 2. The City, by way of Customer Notice, is to inform customers of the rate increase and its effect on monthly bills along with the reasons for the increased rates effective January 1, 1990.
