BEFORE: J.D. V. Newlands, Deputy Chairman; N. Martin, Commissioner; and W.M. Swanson, Q.C., Commissioner o R D E R WHEREAS West Kootenay November 30, 1989 pursuant to Section 67 of the Utilities Commission Act (lithe Act") for a Commission Order granting a rate increase of 6.9% applicable uniformly to all classes of service, effective with consumption on and after January I, 1990; and WHEREAS the Commission has reviewed the Application and supporting documentation and is satisfied that the intent of the Application is in the public interest. NOW THEREFORE the Commission hereby orders WKP as follows: 1. The 6.9% increase over existing rates, requested to become effective January I, 1990, is approved on an interim basis, with the interim increase to be subject to refund with interest calculated at the average prime rate of the principal bank with which WKP conducts its business. 2. The Commission will accept, subject to timely filing, Electric Tariff Rate Schedules amended in accordance with the Application and terms of this Order effective wi th consumption on and after January I, 1990. 3. The matter of a public hearing of the Application will be the subject of a further Order of the Commission.
