Dear Mr. Pellatt, Re: B.C. Hydro's Rate Application Commission Order No. G-49-89 In the course of preparing for the hearing in this matter, we have concluded that it would be desirable to open the case with a statement of policy from the Chairman of B.C. Hydro, Mr. Bell. Unfortunately, because of commitments which he is unable to defer, he will not be available on the date that the hearing is scheduled to open, February 5th. The soonest he is able to appear is Friday, February 9th. Alternatively, he could be available on the Monday following, February 12th. We anticipate that Mr. Bell could be available for a full hearing day and respond to questions on general pol icy for the balance of the day after the opening statement. Any questions of a general policy nature which could not be accomodated on that day could be addressed to Hydro's continuing policy witness for the hearing, Mr. Peterson, or to other appropriate witnesses called by B.C. Hydro as the hearing proceeds. Accordingly, we wish to advise the Commission that we will be applying at the opening of the hearing on February 5th for an adjournment to either February 9th or February 12th, depending on the Commission's convenience. By copy of this letter we are advising other counsel of our intention in that regard.
