BEFORE: M.K. Jaccard, Chairperson; and ) K.L. Hall, Commissioner ) December 15, 1993 ORDER WHEREAS: A. On December 2, 1993 Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. ("PNG") applied to the Commission for approval to amend its gas tariff rate schedules on an interim and permanent basis effective January 1, 1994 (lithe Application") pursuant to Sections 64 and 101 of the Utilities Commission Act (lithe Act"); and B. The Commission by Order No. G-121-93 approved for PNG an interim rate increase of 4.36 percent on gross margin effective with consumption on and after January 1, 1994. The Commission also requested submissions from all interested parties before January 5, 1994 with respect to the holding of a separate joint hearing to deal with the rates of return on common equity for both PNG and BC Gas Utility Ltd. The matter of a public hearing or the use of an Alternative Dispute Resolution into the Application would be the subject of a further Order of the Commission; and C. The Commission has reviewed its schedule and wishes to advise participants of a provisional public hearing date into the Application. NOW THEREFORE the Commission orders PNG as follows: 1. A public hearing into the Application will be held on March 21, 1994 at a time and location to be announced by way of a future Commission Order and Notice of Public Hearing. 2. PNG is to advise all its industrial customers, intervenors and interested parties of the public hearing date into the Application. 3. PNG will also advise customers of the Commission's Policy on Participant Funding approved by Order No. G-117-93. . .. /2

The Application and supporting materials are to be made available at the Head Office of PNG, Suite 1400 - 1185 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, B.C. and at each district office located in its service area. The Application will also be available for inspection at the B.C. Utilities Commission office at the 6th Floor, 900 Howe Street, Vancouver, B.C. 5. Intervenors and interested parties intending to participate in the public hearing should register with the Commission as soon as possible.
