Jaccard, Chairperson; and ) L.R. Barr, Deputy Chairperson ) December 21, 1993 ORDER WHEREAS: A. The Corporation of the City of Nelson ("the City") applied on December 15, 1993 for Commission approval of interim rates contained in the City of Nelson Electrical Utility Regulatory Amendment ByLaw No. 2614, 1993 ("the By-Law") applicable to electric service rendered by the City in its service area; and B. The amendments specified in the By-Law are to permit the City to increase all customer rates by 6.0 percent effective January 1, 1994, in order to recover increased electricity charges from its supplier, West Kootenay Power Ltd. ("WKP"); and C. Commission Order No. G-125-93 approved a reduced interim increase in rates for WKP in the amount of 5.7 percent effective January 1, 1994; and D. As a result of the reduced interim increase awarded to WKP, on December 22, 1993, the City revised its application to an interim increase of 5.5 percent; and E. The By-Law maintains the rate differential approved by Commission Decision and Order No. G-76-83 dated October 24, 1983; and F. The Commission has reviewed the Application and supporting material and finds that an interim increase in electricity rates contained in the By-Law is necessary and in the public interest. NOW THEREFORE the Commission orders as follows: 1. The Commission accepts for filing effective January 1, 1994 The Corporation of the City of Nelson Electrical Utility Regulatory Amendment By-Law No. 2614, 1993, which incorporates a reduced general interim rate increase of 5.5 percent over existing rates to all customers. .../2
2. The City, by way of Customer Notice, is to inform customers of the general interim rate increase and its effect on monthly bills along with the reasons for the increased rates.
