Jaccard, Chairperson; ) K.L. Hall, Commissioner; and ) December 7, 1993 E.C. Sleath, Commissioner ) WHEREAS: A. On February 19, 1993 British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority ("B.C. Hydro") ("the Applicant") filed with the Commission an Application, pursuant to Sections 64, 67, 106 and 114 of the Utilities Commission Act ("the Act") and Special Direction No.8, to increase rates on an interim and permanent basis to all customers effective April 1, 1993; and B. The Applicant also requested an Order pursuant to Section 114 of the Act varying paragraph 6 of Commission Order No. 0-31-90; and C. The Commission, by Order No. 0-16-93, approved a 3.9 percent interim rate increase to all classes of electric service customers effective April 1, 1993, adjusted for rate design proposals as set out in the Application, all subject to refund with interest following a public hearing that was set down for September 13, 1993 in Vancouver, British Columbia; and D. The Commission by Order No. 0-37-93 arranged for B.C. Hydro to issue a Notice of Public Hearing; and E. Testimony commenced September 13, 1993 and concluded on September 23, 1993; and F. The Commission has considered the Application and evidence adduced thereon all as set forth in the Decision issued concurrently with this Order.
2 G-116-93 NOW THEREFORE the Commission, for reasons stated in the Decision, orders as follows: 1. The interim increase to B.C. Hydro's rates authorized by Commission Order No. G-16-93 is confirmed as firm effective April 1, 1993. 2. B.c. Hydro is to flatten residential and general service rates in accordance with directions contained in the Decision issued concurrently with this Order. 3. Order No. G-31-90 is varied to the extent necessary to allow B.C. Hydro to make payments to and from the Rate Stabilization Account in accordance with Special Directive No.2 issued to B.C. Hydro. 4. The Commission will accept, subject to timely filing by B.C. Hydro, amended Electric Tariff Rate Schedules which conform to the terms of the Commission's Decision. B.C. Hydro will provide all customers, by way of an information notice and media publications, a summary of the Commission's Decision into its Application. 5. B.C. Hydro will comply with all directions contained in the Decision accompanying this Order. DA TED at the City of Vancouver, in the Province of British Columbia, this day of December, 1993.
