BEFORE: M.K. Jaccard, Chairperson; and ) K.L. Hall, Commissioner ) January 20, 1994 ORDER WHEREAS: A. On November 10, 1993 BC Gas Utility Ltd. - Columbia Division ("BC Gas") applied for Commission approval of pricing amendments to the gas purchase contracts with Canadian Hunter Exploration Ltd. ("Canadian Hunter") and Imperial Oil Resources Limited ("Imperial Oil") which supply the base-load requirements for the gas contract year commencing November 1, 1993; and B. On January 10, 1994 BC Gas submitted supplementary information about the gas requirements and supply arrangements for the Division; and C. The Commission has considered the Application and Letter Agreements and is satisfied that approval is necessary and in the public interest. NOW THEREFORE pursuant to Section 85.3 of the Utilities Commission Act and the Rules thereunder, the Commission orders as follows: 1. The Commission approves the Letter Agreement with Canadian Hunter dated October 18, 1993 amending the Gas Purchase Contract dated November 1, 1987. 2. The Commission approves the Letter Agreement with Imperial Oil dated October 29, 1993 amending the Gas Purchase Contract dated November 1, 1987. 3. The Commission advises BC Gas that approval of restructured gas supply arrangements and of amended prices for 1994/95 will require demonstration, in the context of the Utility's Integrated Resource Planning process, that the changes are in the public interest. 4. BC Gas is directed to file a report at the end of each calendar quarter in 1994 on the progress it has made toward restructuring these gas supply arrangements.
