Jaccard, Chairperson; and ) L.R. Barr, Deputy Chairperson ) August 24, 1995 ORDER WHEREAS: A. On August 1, 1995 Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. ("PNG") applied to the Commission for approval of a deferral account to recover, through rates, costs associated with the issuance to residential customers, and installation of programmable furnace thermostats as part of the BC 21 Power Smart Program approved by Commission Order No. G-88-94; and B. The Thermostat Program will offer up to 540 programmable setback thermostats to the 750 homeowners in the Smithers/Telkwa, B.C. communities who are participating in the BC 21 Power Smart Program energy audit during the period August 31, 1995 to March 31, 1996; and C. The Commission has considered the Application and is satisfied that approval is necessary and in the public interest. NOW THEREFORE the Commission orders as follows: I. The Commission approves for PNG a deferral account that will capture up to $55,500 for 540 Programmable Setback Thermostats covering participating residential customers in the BC 21 Power Smart Program in the Smithers/Telkwa, B.C. areas. 2. PNG will monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of the Programmable Setback Thermostat Program and the BC 21 Power Smart Program approved by this Order. 3.
