Jaccard, Chairperson; and ) L.R. Barr, Deputy Chairperson ) December 21, 1995 ORDER WHEREAS: A. On November 29, 1995, and in a revised application dated December 1, 1995, Kanelk Transmission Company Limited ("Kanelk"), pursuant to Sections 64 and 67 of the Utilities Commission Act ("the Act"), applied to the Commission for approval to increase its rates charged to British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority ("B.C. Hydro") from $602,159 per year to $1,391,519 per year, effective January 1, 1996; and B. The Application has been made to pass-through Alberta transmission system access charges from the Grid Company of Alberta ("Gridco") contained in Rate Schedule GIS, effective January I, 1996. Gridco has applied to its regulator, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board ("AEUB"), for approval of Rate Schedule GIS on an interim basis; and C. The Commission has reviewed the Application and finds that approval of an interim rate increase is necessary and in the public interest. NOW THEREFORE the Commission orders as follows: 1. Pursuant to Section 67(4) of the Act, the Commission approves Kanelk's application for an interim rate increase to B.C. Hydro in the amount of $789,360 per year effective January I, 1996, subject to AEUB approval of Gridco Rate Schedule GIS. The interim rate increase is subject to refund with interest at the average prime rate of Kanelk's principal bank. 2. The Commission, subject to timely filing by Kanelk, will approve tariff pages reflecting the interim increase in rates approved by this Order.
