Jaccard, Chairperson; and ) L.R. Barr, Deputy Chairperson ) August 1, 1996 O R D E R WHEREAS: A. On December 19, 1995 Princeton Light and Power Company, Limited ("PLP") filed an application for an interim increase in rates of 2.55 percent as a result of increased power purchase costs from its supplier, West Kootenay Power Ltd. ("WKP"), effective January 1, 1996 made necessary by Commission Order No. G-111-95 which approved for WKP an interim increase in rates of 3.85 percent effective January 1, 1996; and B. The Commission issued Order No. G-114-95 approving for PLP an interim increase in rates of 2.00 percent, effective January 1, 1996. The interim increase requested had been adjusted downward by the Commission to reflect the reduced interim rates awarded to WKP by Order No. G-111-95; and C. On July 19, 1996 PLP applied to have its interim rate increase of 2 percent made permanent as a result of the award to WKP of a 3.85 percent permanent rate increase effective January 1, 1996 by way of Order No. G-73-96; and D. The Commission has considered the Application and is satisfied that a permanent increase in rates for PLP is necessary and in the public interest. NOW THEREFORE the Commission orders as follows: 1. The Commission confirms as permanent for PLP the interim increase in rates of 2.00 percent, effective January 1, 1996. 2. PLP will provide all customers with an appropriate notice of explanation of the rate increase by way of a bill stuffer and will publish a notice in the community newspaper.
