The Commission, by Order No.ÊG-115-96, set down a pre-hearing conference and a public hearing for British Columbia Hydro and Power AuthorityÕs (ÒB.C.ÊHydroÓ) application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (ÒCPCNÓ) for Unit No.Ê4 at its Seven Mile Hydro-Electric Project (ÒtheÊApplicationÓ). The Order also contained a Regulatory Agenda which all parties would follow; and B. On JanuaryÊ10, 1997 B.C.ÊHydro requested that the Commission cancel the FebruaryÊ10, 1997 public hearing and place the Application in abeyance; and C. On JanuaryÊ13, 1997 the Commission held a pre-hearing conference at which time Intervenors and Interested Parties were advised of B.C.ÊHydroÕs position; and D. The Commission has reviewed B.C.ÊHydroÕs Application for placing the Application in abeyance and cancelling the public hearing. NOW THEREFORE the Commission orders as follows: 1. The Hearing into the Application for B.C.ÊHydro's Seven Mile Hydro-Electric Project is adjourned indefinitely. . . . /2

The Application will be held in abeyance until DecemberÊ31, 1997, by which time B.C.ÊHydro will be required to either: ¥ cancel the Application, or ¥ seek a further abeyance, or ¥ reactivate the Application. 3. B.C.ÊHydro is required to file all costs and project cost commitments made to date for the Seven Mile project, together with cost estimates which will be required to hold the project in abeyance. 4. Applications for Participant Assistance by Registered Intervenors may be submitted for costs expended to January 13, 1997. However, no further assistance will be available until a new regulatory timetable is set. 5. B.C.ÊHydro is to publish a notice in all newspapers previously covered by Order No.ÊG-115-96 announcing that the public hearing is postponed indefinitely.
