Hall, Commissioner ) P.G. Bradley, Commissioner ) MayÊ29, 1997 F.C. Leighton, Commissioner ) C.J. Kinsley, Commissioner ) CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY WHEREAS: A. On MayÊ21, 1997 British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority ("B.C.ÊHydro") applied for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity ("CPCN") to connect and operate a 470Êmetre, 138ÊkV transmission line extension from its existing 138ÊkV transmission line (lL366) to TimberNorth Forest Ltd.'s ("TimberNorth") MacKenzie, B.C. substation currently under construction and estimated to be completed in June, 1997; and B. The project is a result of the sale of the Fletcher Challenge sawmill to TimberNorth thereby requiring a separate electrical connection to B.C. Hydro's system; and C. The cost of the construction of the transmission line will be paid for by TimberNorth; and D. The Commission has reviewed the Application and has determined that the connection and operation of the proposed 138ÊkV transmission line extension is necessary for the public convenience and properly conserves the public interest. .../2
2 NOW THEREFORE the Commission grants to B.C.ÊHydro a CPCN to connect and operate a 470Êmetre, 138ÊkV transmission line extension from its existing line (1L366) to the new TimberNorth substation at its sawmill at MacKenzie, B.C.
