Barr, Deputy Chair ) and Acting Chair ) May 15, 1997 K.L. Hall, Commissioner ) O R D E R WHEREAS: A. On JuneÊ28, 1996 the Commission approved for British Columbia Hydro and Power AuthorityÊ("B.C.ÊHydro") Rate ScheduleÊ1844 - Spill Reduction Energy Rate that was available, until JulyÊ31, 1996, to all Rate ScheduleÊ1821 Transmission Service and Rate ScheduleÊ1848 - Real Time PricingÊ("RTP") Transmission Service customers. The rate was a result of spill conditions at B.C.ÊHydro's reservoirs and was intended to be used by industrial customers to turndown self-generation and to increase production; and B. On MarchÊ7 and AprilÊ8, 1997 B.C.ÊHydro amended its JanuaryÊ31, 1997 application to the Commission for approval of Rate ScheduleÊ1844 - Transmission Service - Turbine Turndown Energy Rate that would be available to Rate ScheduleÊ1821 and 1848 customers from MarchÊ1 to JulyÊ17, 1997; and C. On AprilÊ17, 1997 the Commission issued Order No.ÊG-45-97 which approved for B.C.ÊHydro its application for Rate ScheduleÊ1844 covering the period AprilÊ1 to JulyÊ17, 1997 and required B.C.ÊHydro to file each individual customer agreement for approval; and D. On MayÊ2, 1997 B.C.ÊHydro requested approval of a generic Letter Agreement for Rate ScheduleÊ1844 to negate the need for individual contract approvals for those Rate Schedule 1821 customers taking service under Rate ScheduleÊ1844; and E. The Commission has reviewed the application and finds that approval of the generic Letter Agreement for all RTP customers to Rate ScheduleÊ1844 is necessary and in the public interest. . . ./2
2 NOW THEREFORE the Commission orders as follows: 1. The Commission approves for B.C.ÊHydro, the generic Letter Agreement to Rate ScheduleÊ1844 Transmission Service - Turbine Turndown Energy Rate effective AprilÊ1, 1997 and covering the period ending JulyÊ17, 1997. 2. The generic letter agreement is only for Rate ScheduleÊ1821 customers taking service under Rate ScheduleÊ1844. 3. Within a reasonable time of executing the generic letter agreement with any customer B.C.ÊHydro shall file the agreement with the Commission for information. 4. B.C.ÊHydro is to file the Letter Agreement approved by this Order in standard Tariff Supplement format.
