Barr, Deputy Chair K.L. Hall, Commissioner P.G. Bradley, Commissioner O R D E R WHEREAS: A. On December 29, 1997, Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. on behalf of its subsidiary, Centra Gas Fort St. John Inc. (“Centra Gas FSJ”), applied to the Commission for approval to pass-through certain costs related to the increased cost of gas, a reduced Return on Equity for 1998, and to amortize the 1997 accumulated gas supply cost deferral account balance, on an interim basis effective January 1, 1998; and B. The new Gas Tariff rates resulted from the following Commission approvals: • Orders No. E-5-97, E-6-97 and E-7-97 approved the 1997/98 gas costs for Centra Gas FSJ; • Letter No. L-73-97, approved a Return on Equity of 10.25 percent for 1998; and C. On January 12, 1998, Centra Gas FSJ amended its December 29, 1997 submission with amendments to its application for rate changes effective January 1, 1998; and D. 2 E. The Commission has reviewed the Application and is satisfied that approval of the rate changes identified are necessary and in the public interest. NOW THEREFORE the Commission orders as follows: 1. Changes to Centra Gas FSJ's Gas Tariff Rate Schedules, to reflect the rate changes contained in the December 29, 1997 application, as amended January 12, 1998, are approved on an interim basis, effective January 1, 1998. 2. Centra Gas FSJ, by way of Customer Notice, is to provide all affected customers with an explanation of the January 1, 1998 interim rate changes. 3. The Commission will accept, subject to timely filing, amended Gas Tariff Rate Schedules in accordance with the terms of this Order.
