In 1998, The Corporation of the City of Nelson (“the City”) commenced a three-year program to eliminate the rate differential between commercial rates in rural areas versus commercial rates in the City. In 1999, the City will continue with the program to reduce the commercial class rate differential to 3 percent effective February 1, 1999; and B. On January 25, 1999, the City applied to the Commission for approval of By-Law No. 2846, 1999 which will lower the electrical rates to its customers to reflect the rate restructuring in its power purchases from the City’s supplier West Kootenay Power Ltd., approved by Order No. G-124-98, including the commercial rate restructuring, effective February 1, 1999; and C. The Commission has reviewed the By-Law and supporting material and finds that approval is necessary and in the public interest. NOW THEREFORE the Commission orders as follows: 1. The Commission approves and accepts for filing the City’s Electrical Utility Amendment By-Law No. 2846, 1999 effective February 1, 1999. 2. The City, by way of Customer Notice, is to inform all rural customers of the continued flattening of the rate differential for commercial service customers and the reduction in rates to customers as a result of lower power purchase costs. 3. The City is to provide the Commission with a final certified copy of the By-Law following adoption.
