Ostergaard, Chair ) P.G. Bradley, Commissioner ) K.L. Hall, Commissioner ) January 4, 2001 N.F. Nicholls, Commissioner ) O R D E R WHEREAS: A. On December 28, 2000, Stargas Utilities Ltd. ("Stargas") applied to increase the rates charged its customers as a result of an increase in the BC Gas Utility Ltd. (“BCGUL”) Rate Schedule 3 commodity rate from $7.644/GJ to $10.076/GJ and Stargas’ Lost and Unaccounted for Gas, estimated at 5 percent, which will increase from $0.382/GJ to $0.504/GJ, effective January 1, 2001; and B. The Commission has reviewed the Application and finds that approval is required. NOW THEREFORE pursuant to Section 61(4) of the Utilities Commission Act, the Commission orders as follows: 1. The Commission approves for Stargas an addition to permanent rates of $2.554/GJ for Residential and Commercial customers. This change is comprised of an increase to the BCGUL Charge of $2.432/GJ and the Lost and Unaccounted for Gas of $0.122/GJ. These rates are effective January 1, 2001. 2. Stargas is to provide its customers with an explanation of the rate increase by way of a customer notice insert included with its next bill.
