V6B 5R3 Dear Mr. Aldeguer: Re: British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority (“B.C. Hydro”) Office & Professional Employees International Union, Local 378 Application for a Public Hearing to Examine the B.C. Hydro Accenture Arrangements and Transmission Division Plans The Commission has received an Application under Sections 72 and 73 of the Utilities Commission Act on behalf of the Office & Professional Employees International Union, Local 378 (“OPEIU”). The substance of the Application is a request that the Commission exercise its jurisdiction to examine the divestment of a significant portion of B.C. Hydros enterprise to a privately held company. While the Commission dismissed a similar complaint by the OPEIU in 2002, this Application is based on a Memorandum of Understanding between B.C. Hydro and Accenture Inc. and its alleged plans to sever the Transmission Division, creating a new business independent of B.C. Hydro. We note that the December 19, 2002 Application was copied to Chris Sanderson, Q.C. of Lawson Lundell and ask B.C. Hydro to provide the Commission with a response by January 31, 2003. Yours truly, Original signed by: Robert J. Pellatt RJP/cms Enclosures cc: Mr. Leo B. McGrady, Q.C. McGrady, Baugh & White Complaints/BCH/OPEIU 2003 Complaint/Rqst BCH Comments
