A Filing by FortisBC Inc.

of a Proposed Energy Supply Contract

 

BEFORE:                 L.F. Kelsey, Commissioner                                                  October 28, 2011

 

O  R  D  E  R

WHEREAS:

 

A.       On October 18, 2011 pursuant to section 71, subsections 2.3 and 2.4 of the Utilities Commission Act (Act), FortisBC Inc. (FortisBC) filed with the British Columbia Utilities Commission (Commission) an application to enter into an energy supply contract or energy supply contracts for the purchase of 25 MW blocks of capacity and associated energy at or below $43 MWh ($Cdn) (the Propose Agreement(s)), and the Proposed Agreement(s) would be made pursuant to the Western Systems Power Pool Agreement;

 

B.       The Proposed Agreement(s) would be entered into for the delivery of capacity and associated energy for the months of November 2011 through March 2012;

 

C.       FortisBC requested that the details in the filing and Proposed Agreement(s) be kept confidential due to their commercially sensitive nature;

 

D.       The Commission has considered the Proposed Agreement(s) and has determined that they are in the public interest.

 

 

NOW THEREFORE the Commission orders as follows:

 

1.       Pursuant to section 71(2.4) of the Act, the Commission approves the Proposed Agreement(s) made in accordance with the current Western Systems Power Pool Agreement Service Schedule C for the supply of 25 MW blocks of capacity and associated energy at or below $43 per MWh ($Cdn) submitted under subsection 2.3.

 

2.       The Commission will keep confidential the details in the filing and the Proposed Agreement(s).
