Dear Ms. Fraser:
Re: British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority (BC Hydro)
Remote Community Electrification (RCE) Program
Confirmation to Discontinue RCE Program Annual Reporting
On May 15, 2014, BC Hydro filed the Remote Community Electrification (RCE) Program Final Report in compliance with Commission Letter L-75-13. In its letter, BC Hydro makes two requests of the Commission regarding reporting requirements.
Since BC Hydro has ended the RCE Program and the discontinuance of annual reporting is supported by intervener groups, BC Hydro does not see value in submitting further annual reports. Therefore, BC Hydro requests confirmation from the Commission that the RCE Annual Reports are no longer required.
In December 2013, BC Hydro informed the Commission that projects originally anticipated under the RCE program would be indefinitely delayed. Exceptions were made for projects significantly advanced and funded. These included the project to commence service in the community of Hartley Bay as implementation was nearing completion, and a second project involving the communities of Good Hope Lake and the nearby Jade City. Considering the small scale of these two remaining projects and the support of members of the intervener working group who had participated in the Streamlined Process, BC Hydro sees no value in continuing to report on them.
For these reasons, the Commission confirms that the RCE Annual Reports are no longer required and that further RCE annual reporting is not required for the Good Hope Lake and Jade City projects.
Yours truly,
