Dear Ms. Roy:
Re: FortisBC Inc.
Advanced Metering Infrastructure Project
Annual Cost/Benefit Tracking Report
The British Columbia Utilities Commission (Commission) writes in regards to FortisBC’s (FBC) Advanced Metering Infrastructure Project’s (AMI Project) Annual Cost/Benefit Tracking Report (Report).
As per the Commission’s Directive 7 in Order C-7-13 for FBC’s Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity application for the AMI Project, the Report must track “the AMI Project benefits (reduced costs) and the new operating costs of the AMI program for each of the first 5 years following the end or substantial completion of the AMI Project. The Annual Cost/Benefit Tracking Report is to be filed with the Commission within 3 months of each calendar year end included in the 5 year period.” Additionally, Directive 8 of Order C-7-13 directs FBC to “determine the form and additional content of the Quarterly Progress Reports, Final Report and Annual Cost/Benefit Tracking Reports in consultation with Commission staff.”
Given that FBC expects substantial completion of the AMI Project in the Second Quarter of 2016, FBC would file the first Report by end of March 2017. According to Directive 8 of Order C-7-13, the Commission hereby acknowledges that FBC and the Commission have worked together to develop the Report form and content, and the first Report is expected to be filed by Friday, March 31, 2017.
Yours truly,
Erica Hamilton
