Section 71 Filing of Remaining Commodity Baseload Contracts for

Summer 2016 (April 2016 to October 2016)

ORDER

WHEREAS:

 

A.      On April 1, 2016, FortisBC Energy Inc. (FEI) filed with the British Columbia Utilities Commission (Commission) for acceptance of the remainder of the natural gas supply contracts for the period April 1, 2016 to October 31, 2016, including applicable monthly and daily market factors (Filing) pursuant to section 71 of the Utilities Commission Act and section 6.0 of the Commission’s Rules for Natural Gas Energy Supply contracts;

B.      By Letter L-28-15 dated July 9, 2015, the Commission accepted the FEI 2015/16 Annual Contracting Plan, which set out FEI’s plans for contracting gas supply for the 2015/16 contract year;

C.      On November 19, 2015, the Commission, by Order E-23-15, accepted FEI’s filing of natural gas supply contracts for the period of November 1, 2015 to October 31, 2016. These contracts were for the supply for the winter period of November 1, 2015 through March 31, 2016, and also included contracts for some of the supply for the summer period of April 1, 2016 through October 31, 2016;

D.      FEI requests that the Filing and associated documents remain confidential due to their commercially sensitive nature; and

E.       The Commission reviewed the Filing and is satisfied that the commodity supply contracts and market factors are appropriate considering market prices at the time they were negotiated, and are consistent with the FEI 2015/16 Annual Contracting Plan.

 

 

NOW THEREFORE pursuant to section 71 of the Utilities Commission Act and the British Columbia Utilities Commission’s Rules for Natural Gas Energy Supply Contracts, the Commission accepts the natural gas supply contacts filed on April 1, 2016, as shown in Appendix A to this order. The Commission will keep the contracts and the Filing confidential as requested by FortisBC Energy Inc. as they contain commercially sensitive information.
