ORDER
WHEREAS:
A. On March 6, 2020, Planet Energy made an application to the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) seeking approval of its intention to terminate its business activities carried on pursuant to its Gas Marketer Licence in British Columbia, effective November 1, 2020;
B. By Order A-4-19, dated October 22, 2019, the BCUC approved the renewal of Planet Energy (British Columbia) Corp.’s (Planet Energy) Gas Marketer Licence, subject to conditions;
C. By letter dated March 20, 2020, Fortis Energy Inc. (FEI) noted that Planet Energy is required to provide 30 days’ formal notice of termination in accordance with section 6.03 (Termination of Service Agreement) in Rate Schedule 36. FEI also advised Planet Energy that prior to providing FEI the formal notice of termination, Planet Energy was also required to follow and complete certain protocols dealing with all current active customer enrollments in order to terminate its business activities in British Columbia, effective August 1, 2020;
D. Planet Energy has confirmed that all requirements as outlined by FEI have been completed, and that Planet Energy will have no customers or future enrollments, effective July 1, 2020;
E. The BCUC is not aware of any current complaints or disputes against Planet Energy in respect of its business activities in British Columbia carried on pursuant to its Gas Marketer Licence; and
F. The BCUC has reviewed Planet Energy’s application and determines approval is warranted.
NOW THEREFORE pursuant to section 71.1(6) of the UCA, the BCUC approves the termination of Planet Energy’s Gas Marketer Licence A-4-19, effective August 1, 2020.
