ORDER

WHEREAS:

 

A.      On April 20, 2020, Corix Multi-Utility Services Inc. (Corix) filed an application with the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) seeking approval to establish a new Variable Energy Charge rate setting mechanism, to reduce the existing Variable Energy Charge for Dockside Green Energy (DGE), and to amend the DGE tariff sheet to reflect the proposed changes (Application);

B.      By Orders G-101-20, G-163-20 and G-193-20, the BCUC established a written public hearing process and regulatory timetable for the review of the Application, which included intervener registration, two rounds of information requests, and written final and reply arguments;

C.      British Columbia Old Age Pensioners’ Organization, Council of Senior Citizens’ Organizations of BC, Disability Alliance BC, and Tenant Resource & Advisory Centre (BCOAPO et al.) participated as the sole intervener in the proceeding;

D.      By its Decision and accompanying Order G-269-20 dated October 26, 2020, the BCUC issued its final determinations on the Application;

E.       BCOAPO et. al filed a Participant Assistance/Cost Award (PACA) application with the BCUC, with respect to its participation in the proceeding:

F.       By emailed correspondence dated October 13, 2020, Corix confirmed it had reviewed the PACA application and did not provide further comment;

G.      The BCUC has reviewed the PACA application in accordance with the criteria and rates set out in the PACA Guidelines attached to BCUC Order G-97-17 and considers that approval of the cost award is warranted.

 

 

NOW THEREFORE pursuant to section 118(1) of the Utilities Commission Act, the BCUC orders as follows:

 

1.       Funding of $4,645.03 is awarded to BCOAPO et al. for its participation in the Corix DGE Variable Energy Charge and Rate Setting Mechanism proceeding.

 

2.       Corix is directed to reimburse BCOAPO et al. for the awarded amount in a timely manner.
