ORDER

WHEREAS:

 

A.      On March 11, 2022, the British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority (BC Hydro) filed an application with the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) requesting acceptance of a cost range of $24.8 million to $32.8 million in capital expenditures for the Energy Management System Upgrade Project (Project), pursuant to section 44.2 of the Utilities Commission Act (UCA) (Application);

B.      BC Hydro’s Bulk Electric System (Bulk Electric System) comprises a network of generation resources, transmission lines, interconnections with neighbouring systems and associated equipment, generally operated at voltages of 100 kV or higher. The Bulk Electric System is monitored, controlled, and operated using a technology system called the Energy Management System (EMS). The current EMS software and the hardware on which it runs are at end-of-life. The Project consists of upgrading the EMS software and the hardware;

C.      By Order G-102-22, dated April 14, 2022, the BCUC established a regulatory timetable for the review of the Application, which included public notice, intervener registration, one round of BCUC and intervener information requests (IR No. 1), BC Hydro responses to BCUC and intervener IR No. 1, and submissions on further process;

D.      By letter dated June 17, 2022, BC Hydro requested an extension to the deadline for filing responses to BCUC and Intervener IR No. 1; and

E.       The BCUC has reviewed the request and determines that an amendment to the regulatory timetable is warranted.

 

 

NOW THEREFORE the BCUC orders that the regulatory timetable is amended as set out in Appendix A to this order.
