IN THE MATTER OF

the Utilities Commission Act, RSBC 1996, Chapter 473

and

British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority

Request to Remove the General Service E-Plus Rate

from the Electric Tariff, Effective April 1, 2023

BEFORE:

B. A. Magnan, Commissioner

on April 13, 2023

ORDER

WHEREAS:

A.        On March 29, 2023, British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority (BC Hydro) requested to remove the General Service E-Plus rate from its Electric Tariff, effective April 1, 2023 (Application);

B.         On November 14, 2019, the BC Hydro applied to the BCUC for approval of amendments to Rate Schedules (RS) 1205, 1206 and 1207 General Service – Dual Fuel (Closed) (General Service E-Plus). The proposed amendments allow customers to make changes to their space, water and industrial process heating equipment, remove the requirement to maintain a permanent back-up heating system and clarify that BC Hydro will not be providing service under these Rate Schedules to any premises beyond March 31, 2023, amongst other things;

C.         On April 20, 2020, the BCUC issued Order G-76-20, approving the amendments to RS 1205, 1206 and 1207 General Service – Dual Fuel (Closed) (General Service E-Plus), as filed in the application, effective the date of the order; and

D.        The BCUC has reviewed the Application and determines that removing the General Service E-Plus rate from its Electric Tariff, thus rescinding RS 1205, 1206, and 1207, is warranted.

NOW THEREFORE pursuant to section 61 of the Utilities Commission Act, the British Columbia Utilities Commission orders as follows:

1.         RS 1205, 1206, and 1207 are rescinded, effective April 1, 2023.

2.         Tariff pages as filed in Attachment 1 of the application are accepted for filing.

DATED at the City of Vancouver, in the Province of British Columbia, this             13th           day of April 2023.
