ORDER NUMBER

G-84-23

IN THE MATTER OF

the Utilities Commission Act, RSBC 1996, Chapter 473

and

British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority

Request to Amend Reporting Deadline for the Peace Kelly

Semi-Annual Progress Reports – Variance to Order G-57-23

BEFORE:

B. A. Magnan, Commissioner

on April 14, 2023

ORDER

WHEREAS:

A.        On March 30, 2023, British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority (BC Hydro) requested that the filing date for semi-annual progress reports related to British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) Order G-57-23, is amended so that the first report covers the period ending October 31, 2023. BC Hydro states that amending the filing date for the semi-annual progress reports would allow for a staggering of the semi-annual reporting requirements for the Bridge River 1 Units 1 to 4 Generator Replacement Project and the Mainwaring Substation Upgrade Project. BC Hydro states that this will allow adequate time for shared resources across the projects to prepare and review the reports before they are issued to the BCUC (altogether, Application);

B.        On March 20, 2023, the BCUC issued Order G-57-23 to BC Hydro, accepting the capital expenditure schedule for the Peace to Kelly Lake Stations Sustainment Project (Project). In the Decision accompanying Order G-57-23, the BCUC directs BC Hydro to file semi-annual progress reports within 45 days of the end of each semi-annual reporting period, with the first report covering the period ending June 30, 2023; and

C.        The BCUC has reviewed the Application and considers that an amendment to the filing deadline of the semi-annual progress reports, so that the first report is filed the period ending October 31, 2023, is warranted.

NOW THEREFORE pursuant to section 99 of the Utilities Commission Act, the BCUC orders as follows:

The directive contained in Appendix A of the Decision accompanying Order G-57-23 is varied as follows:

BC Hydro must file semi-annual progress reports within 45 days of the end of each semi-annual reporting period, with the first report covering the period ending October 31, 2023. Each report must provide the information as set out in Order G-57-23.

DATED at the City of Vancouver, in the Province of British Columbia, this             14th            day of April 2023.
