Advanced Metering Infrastructure Project – Variance to Order C-2-23

ORDER

WHEREAS:

 

A.      On July 21, 2023, FortisBC Energy Inc. (FEI) requested that the filing date for the first semi-annual progress report related to British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) Order and Decision C-2-23, be amended so that the first report covers the period commencing the start of the project and ending December 31, 2023. FEI states that given the timing of the Decision, initiation of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Project is in the very early stages and there is very little information upon which to report for the period ending June 30, 2023. FEI states it expects to finalize the AMI Project’s schedule, cost information, and implementation plan over the next period which will result in a more meaningful first progress report to the BCUC (altogether, Application);

B.      On May 15, 2023, the BCUC issued Order C-2-23 to FEI, granting a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to FEI for the AMI Project; and

C.      The BCUC has reviewed the Application and considers that an amendment to the filing deadline of the first semi-annual progress report, so that the first report is filed the period commencing the start of the project and ending December 31, 2023, is warranted.

NOW THEREFORE pursuant to section 99 of the Utilities Commission Act, the BCUC orders as follows:

 

The directive contained in Appendix B of the Decision accompanying Order C-2-23 is varied as follows:

 

FEI must file semi-annual progress reports within 30 days of the end of each semi-annual reporting period, with the first report covering the period ending December 31, 2023. Each report must provide the information set out in Order C-2-23.
