2025 Rebate

ORDER

WHEREAS:

 

A.      On March 4, 2025, the Administrator approved Order in Council No. (OIC) 102/25 directing the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) to apply, by March 5, 2025, to the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) for approval of a 2025 rebate (2025 Rebate) to Basic insurance certificate holders as set out in OIC 102/25 (2025 Rebate Directive);

B.      On March 4, 2025, the Administrator approved OIC 103/25, amending Special Direction IC2 to the British Columbia Utilities Commission, B.C. Reg 307/2004 (Special Direction IC2), such that the BCUC must approve and set the changes to rates within 10 days of ICBC applying for the changes to rates in accordance with the 2025 Rebate Directive;

C.      On March 5, 2025, ICBC filed its 2025 Rebate Application (Application) with the BCUC. In the Application, ICBC submits that the changes to the Basic insurance Tariff (Tariff) set out in the Application have been prescribed by Government;

D.      ICBC seeks BCUC approval of the amended Tariff page attached to the 2025 Rebate Directive, as provided in Appendix A of the Application, to be effective March 18, 2025;

E.       The BCUC has reviewed the Application and considers the approval is required in accordance with OIC 103/25. The BCUC has not reviewed the 2025 Rebate for its regulatory justification.

 

NOW THEREFORE the BCUC approves the Tariff page attached to the 2025 Rebate Directive as filed in Appendix A of the Application, effective March 18, 2025.
