ORDER

WHEREAS:

 

A.      By Orders G-39-25 dated February 21, 2025, G-105-25 dated April 23, 2025 and G-145-25 dated June 16, 2025, the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) established and amended the Net Metering Service Rates proceeding timetable;

B.      On July 10, 2025, Ecosmart Foundation Inc. (Ecosmart) filed intervener evidence, and on August 28, 2025 Ecosmart filed responses to information requests (IRs) on its intervener evidence;

C.      By letter dated September 18, 2025, BC Hydro requested that, in accordance with Rule 11 of the BCUC’s Rules of Practice and Procedure, the BCUC direct EcoSmart to provide a disclosure regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence to prepare its intervener evidence and responses to IRs on its intervener evidence;

D.      The BCUC has reviewed the letter filed by BC Hydro and finds the following determination is warranted.

 

NOW THEREFORE the BCUC directs Ecosmart to file a submission with the BCUC, by Monday September 29, 2025, describing any use of generative artificial intelligence to prepare Ecosmart’s intervener evidence and responses to IRs on its intervener evidence. As part of this submission, Ecosmart must:

 

(a)    Identify the content for which generative artificial intelligence was used;

 

(b)    Identify the generative artificial intelligence platform(s) used; and

 

(c)   Affirm that an individual has reviewed the content created using generative artificial intelligence.
