ORDER
WHEREAS:
A. On September 17, 2025, FortisBC Energy Inc. (FEI) applied to the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC), pursuant to sections 59 to 61 of the Utilities Commission Act, for approval of its 2026 Core Market Administration Expense (CMAE) budget of $6.5 million (Application);
B. By Order G-346-24 dated December 18, 2024, the BCUC approved FEI’s 2025 CMAE budget on an interim basis;
C. By Order G-69-25 dated March 18, 2025, the BCUC approved, among other things, FEI to:
a. Continue to treat CMAE as part of the commodity cost of gas;
b. Allocate 25 percent of costs to the commodity cost reconciliation account and 75 percent to the midstream cost reconciliation account, and to record variances between forecast and actual using the same allocation;
c. Submit the CMAE budget for approval, as well as review of prior year’s forecast to actuals, as a separate application at or near the same time as FEI’s third quarter gas cost report and remove these items from the Annual Reviews; and
d. Keep the current cost categories in the BCUC Template for CMAE Budget Application, which is the format prescribed in Order G-23-15, Appendix B;
D. By Order G-88-25 dated April 3, 2025, the BCUC approved FEI’s 2025 CMAE budget on a permanent basis; and
E. The BCUC has reviewed the Application and considers the following determination is warranted.
NOW THEREFORE pursuant to sections 59 to 61 of the Utilities Commission Act, the BCUC approves FEI’s 2026 CMAE budget of $6.500 million.
