ORDER

WHEREAS:

 

A.      On March 17, 2025, pursuant to section 71 of the Utilities Commission Act (UCA) and Section 6.0 of the British Columbia Utilities Commission’s (BCUC) Rules for Natural Gas Energy Supply Contracts established in Appendix A to BCUC Order G-130-06 (Rules), FortisBC Energy Inc. (FEI) filed for acceptance with the BCUC the baseload and seasonal gas purchase agreements for FEI’s 2025 Summer term supply (April 1, 2025 – October 31, 2025) (Filing);

B.      By Letter L-13-24 dated June 7, 2024, the BCUC accepted FEI’s Annual Contracting Plan (ACP) for the 2024/2025 gas year commencing November 1, 2024;

C.      By Order E-26-24 dated December 12, 2024, the BCUC accepted the winter 2024/2025 term (November 2024 to March 2025) natural gas contracts that included transactions for the entire 2024/2025 gas year;

D.      FEI requests that the Filing and associated documents remain confidential due to their commercially sensitive nature; and

E.       The BCUC has reviewed the Filing and is satisfied that the contracts are consistent with the 2024/2025 ACP, the market factors are appropriate considering market prices at the time they were negotiated, and the contracts are in the public interest.

NOW THEREFORE pursuant to section 71 of the UCA and the Rules:

 

1.       The BCUC accepts the natural gas contracts filed by FEI as shown in Appendix A to this order.

2.       The BCUC will hold the details of the Filing and associated documents confidential, unless the BCUC determines otherwise.
